WYCKOFF, NJ — Because tree interference is a frequent cause of power outages, Rockland Electric, a subsidiary of Orange and Rockland, will be removing and trimming trees along distribution lines in Wyckoff, as part of a four-week project starting in November.

"Rockland Electric is committed to ensuring that electric distribution lines are properly maintained," a company notice said. "Periodic tree maintenance along overhead distribution wires is critically important."

Beginning on or about Nov. 1, O&R will remove overhanging branches in the area of the lock-out zone, defined as the portion of the distribution circuit from the substation exits to the first protective device.
