Driver Issued 7 Citations after Crashing Truck into Rock, Pole, Wall

Witnesses said the Ford F-150 "went airborne" after colliding with a large rock in a front yard

A Fair Lawn man who ping-ponged his black pick-up truck back and forth across a Franklin Lakes street on Sunday afternoon was issued more than half a dozen citations, according to Franklin Lakes Police.

The Ford F-150 hit a rock in the front yard of a Pulis Avenue home and "went airborne," according to bystanders. The vehicle then careened across the street and crashed into a utility pole then back across the street into a stone wall, according to witnesses at the scene Sunday.

Ted Wilson of Fair Lawn was issued seven citations: reckless driving, two counts of careless driving, loading as to spill, failure to exhibit driving credentials, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident, Franklin Lakes Police Lieutenant John Bakelaar said.

A communications line snapped when the truck slammed the pole, but power lines were unaffected; it's not clear if phone or internet in the neighborhood was affected.

Bystanders said the truck almost hit a cyclist, but police Tuesday morning were not aware of any secondary involvement.
