Wednesday: Wild NJ Author at Library 7 p.m.

Children's author and illustrator visits Franklin Lakes, fire hydrant flushing continues and more.

1. Children's author and illustrator Doug Florian will be at the Franklin Lakes Library today at 4:30 p.m. Some of his books include Dinothesaurus; Poetrees;  Bing, Bang Boing; Laugh-eteria; and Mammalabilia.

2. School may be out for spring break, but the fields will be abuzz with activity. Ramapo's baseball team plays Northern Valley-Demarest at home, as does the tennis team. The softball team is playing at Northern Valley-Demarest. Indian Hills baseball is playing at Dwight Morrow. All games are at 4:15 p.m. The Ramapo track team is competing in the Bergen County Relays in Ramsey at 4 p.m.

3. David Wheeler, author of "Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State" will be signing books at the library tonight at 7 p.m.

4. The Shade Tree Commission meets tonight at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall. 

5. United Water is continuing the fire hydrant flushing it began last week. Work is expected to take place in the area of Indian Trail Drive this week. Water quality may be temporarily affected.
