Woodcliff Lake Man Physically Abused Child, Bergen County Prosecutors Say

A Woodcliff Lake man was arrested Wednesday and charged with abuse, Bergen County prosecutors said.

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ — A Woodcliff Lake man was arrested Thursday on child abuse charges, Bergen County prosecutors said.

Jose Pinzon Lopez, 32, was charged with both fourth-degree abuse and neglect and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that on Thursday, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of child abuse that had occurred in Woodcliff Lake the day before.

Investigators determined that Lopez "physically abused" a child, prosecutors said, without providing further details.

Lopez was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
