WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff police pulled a 78-year-old man from a swimming pool after getting a report of a drowning Monday night, they said.

Police rushed to the backyard pool around 6 p.m., they said.

"The first officer on scene removed an unconscious person from the pool and, with the assistance of other officers, immediately began resuscitative efforts," police said in a statement Tuesday.

The Wyckoff Fire Department and ambulance squad also assisted.

The man was then taken to a local hospital, police said.

Police later told NJ.com that the man survived and remained hospitalized.

On Wednesday, Lt. Joseph Soto said, "He had been swimming and may have experienced a medical episode while in the pool. There currently is no ongoing police investigation."

The incident occurred just days after a teen drowned in Lake Ramapo in Bergen County, according to officials, who have said they will not release further information. READ MORE: Teen Drowns In Ramapo Lake
