Wyckoff Model UN Students Discuss Clean Water Access, Nuclear Arms Ban
Eisenhower Middle School students earned awards from a recently held Model UN Conference, and were recognized by the Wyckoff school board.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A group of Wyckoff students stepped into the shoes of global leaders to discuss strategies to ensure access to safe water for all and to debate nuclear disarmament from the perspective of different countries.
As part of a virtual Model United Nations Conference held in November, six Eisenhower Middle School students earned delegation awards for their work in researching and debating the topics. Students performed an ambassador role in a simulated session of the UN General Assembly.
"We are very proud of our award winners, and we are so proud of all of our delegates for their hard work and dedication," said Laila Moolji, one of EMS Model UN Club's teacher advisors.

Each of the students — Julia Coppo, Best Delegate; Kevin Renner, Outstanding; Mia Narula, Outstanding; Finn McCarthy, Outstanding; Olivia Ki, Honorable; and Emmeline Chu, Honorable — were recognized at Thursday's school board meeting.
"We commend these six student award winners on this impressive accomplishment," Superintendent Kerry Postma said. "They and their fellow students in the club engage in advanced research, critical thinking and public speaking that are well beyond what is typical of their age group."
