Wyckoff Resident Remembered Through 2 Grants In 2021

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation awarded two grants for 2021 in memory of Wyckoff resident Andrea Tilbian Halejian.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A local non-profit remembered long-time Wyckoff resident Andrea Tilbian Halejian through two grants through her namesake memorial fund.

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's (NNJCF) Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund awarded two grants to nonprofit organizations in her memory, according to a news release.

The NNJCF donor advised fund awarded $5,000 to Careers Through Culinary Arts in New York City and $12,000 to LA Family Housing in North Hollywood, California.

The grant to Careers Through Culinary Arts supports the LA Redbird BIPOC scholarship. Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a workforce development nonprofit providing underserved teens with a pathway to success through culinary, job and life skills, NNJCF said.

They service 20,000 middle-and-high school students in these seven regions across the United States: New York City, Newark, Philadelphia and Camden, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia and Arizona, as well as seven Navajo reservation schools.

The support of the LA Family Housing will further the organization's goal to help people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services, NNJCF said.

The nonprofit organization uses evidence-based best practices to achieve their goals and currently operates 26 properties of temporary, permanently affordable, and permanent supportive housing across Los Angeles.

Based in Hackensack, the NNJCF is a non-profit organization which concentrates on the focus areas of education, public health, civic engagement, the arts, philanthropy, and the environment.

The NNJCF Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund contributes to qualified charitable organizations and causes Halejian supported, a news release said.
