Wyckoff Residents Celebrate One Year Anniversary of 'Jijamas' Business
When they saw how their daughters' soft pj's helped them relax, the duo knew they had to offer the same - if not better - pajamas to women.

Wyckoff residents Gustavo Sanchez and his wife Courtney were impressed by a pair of soft pajamas that helped their daughters unwind and relax. The husband and wife duo decided it would be great to offer those same soft, relaxing pj’s to women and made their dream into a reality.
Now they are celebrating the one year anniversary of their company, jijamas®, a brand of incredibly soft pajamas that they sell nationally through their website.
“As we approach our one year anniversary, we’re feeling great about the future. The acceptance of our pajamas has been great,” said Gustavo, who says they have customers from New Hampshire to Hawaii.

Jijamas is made from pima cotton, or long-staple cotton, which is longer than regular cotton and is grown in Peru.
But jijamas differs than regular pajamas in other ways, too.

Jijamas won’t fade and are available in two lengths: one for women 5’5’’ or shorter, the other for women 5’6’’ or taller, no matter which size from small, medium, or large you choose. This guarantees the pajamas will not be too short or drag.
“I think a lot of other pajamas just don’t go the extra mile. …it’s more [difficult] for us but we think it’s making a difference in people’s overall experience for us,” Gustavo said.
Gustavo also says his jijamas are a mix of chic wear with lounge wear.
“We’re also different in the designs … We really want to focus on offering something that has a little bit of lounge wear in it,” Gustavo said.
Since it’s launched, the acceptance of jijamas “has been fantastic.” Gustavo even says Amazon reached out to the duo to see if they are interested in selling jijamas on their site.
And not only do the husband and wife duo appreciate customers’ ideas, they listen, too. Gustavo says this fall and winter collection features new designs their customers suggested.
Ultimately Gustavo hopes to become a leading brand in the pajama business, though he remains humble despite their success.
“One of our most memorable customers is a member of the military who is stationed abroad as part of ‘Operation Enduring Freedom.’ He asked that we send a ‘I love you and I’m thinking of you’ message along with the pajamas he sent as a gift to his wife,” Gustavo said.
Gustavo then sent the soldier’s wife an extra pair of jijamas at no cost because as Gustavo puts it, “since [he’s] taking care of us out there, I’m going to take care of [his] wife. ... It sure helps keep things in perspective.”
