Wyckoff Votes To Suspend Longtime Tax Assessor: Report
Wyckoff's Township Committee voted to suspend its 30-year tax assessor without pay, but didn't say why, reports said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff's tax assessor, who worked in that spot for 30 years, was suspended without pay by vote of the Township Committee on Monday, the Record reported this week.
At a special meeting, the Township Committee voted 3-1-1 to suspend Pamela Steele, the Record said. Committeeman Tim Shanley voted no, saying he thought the vote might be illegal.
The Record said that a letter on Monday from an attorney for the Association of Municipal Assessors of New Jersey stated that a tenured assessor could only be removed after a hearing, and for "good cause shown, not for political reasons."
