  1. Police say 69 immigrants have been rescued from a stash house in southeast Albuquerque thanks to a recent anonymous tip. Rolando Joaquin-Miguel was found at the scene and is facing federal charges in connection to the operation, in which survivors allege they faced "threats of physical harm, forced labor, and coercion." The individuals rescued were connected with The Life Link's Human Trafficking and Aftercare program, a nonprofit which helps hundreds of survivors across the state annually. (KOB 4)
  2. A local nonprofit which helps give clothes to children in need was the site of a break-in this week. The incident occurred at the Locker 505 location near Coronado Mall on Tuesday around 10:00 p.m. when a group of thieves broke the front window and stole multiple display items and a bike intended for a holiday giveaway. The nonprofit's founder says the window repair will cost over $1,000. (KRQE News 13)
  3. Some Albuquerque residents are campaigning to have a COVID-19 memorial installed in the city to honor the memories of people statewide who lost their lives to the virus. Organizers estimate the project could cost millions to build but would be "priceless" for those who lost loved ones during the pandemic. An augmented reality rendering of the proposed memorial site is available at the link. (KRQE News 13)
