Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- The statues of Breaking Bad's Walter White and Jesse Pinkman have been installed. The bronze statues have been a controversial topic in Albuquerque since they were announced. Supporters of the statues point to the show's economic impact on the city. Opponents argue that the statues promote drugs and paint a bad picture of the community. The statues were unveiled at a convention center in Albuquerque with the show's actors in attendance. (KOAT New Mexico)
- Artist Jodie Herrera is searching for Albuquerque artists for a public art exhibit. The exhibit's theme is "Soul of a Nation" and will be introduced on Oct. 24. SaveArtSpace is sponsoring the exhibit. The exhibit is meant to explore social justice issues in the United States such as gender equality, reproductive justice, and representation. (Albuquerque Journal)
- The Albuquerque Police Department reports that it is working on fixing its two most common policy violations. A federal court hearing revealed that the department routinely fails to upload videos in time and fails to record encounters with the public. The two violations account for almost a third of the department's policy violations. To solve the video upload issue, the department is experimenting with an automatic upload system. (KRQE News 13)
