Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. An interactive recycling game could help kids stay educated and occupied over the winter break. The City of Albuquerque and the Solid Waste Department have created a campaign called "Keep ABQ Beautiful." The app, titled "Know What To Throw," will help kids learn about and get involved in recycling in the community. Players will have to sort recycling items from trash and learn about the different types of recyclables. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Crossing guards in Albuquerque made a huge food donation to struggling families in the area. The Albuquerque Crossing Guard Division collected over 2,300 pounds of nonperishable food items from over 40 schools in the metro area. All donations were given to the Roadrunner Food Bank. The food drive ran from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9. (Subscription: Albuquerque Journal)
  3. New Mexico officials have announced that they will be increasing the minimum wage in 2023. Effective on Jan. 1, the minimum wage will be raised to $12. The tipped wage will now be three dollars. The City of Albuquerque enforces its own minimum wage. (KRQE News 13)
