• Bernalillo County deputies warn of road rage, wrong-way driving near South Valley Academy (kob.com) — If you drive Blake Road near South Valley Academy in Albuquerque, deputies say you must obey the ‘road closed’ and ‘do not enter’ signs or risk head-on encounters and road rage. Bernalillo County deputies stopped a dozen drivers in an hour and saw many more going the wrong way through the construction zone. The partial closure and one-way setup could last 10 to 12 months.

• 'Grit' the dog has a new campaign (kob.com) — An Albuquerque shop dog named Grit is launching a new “Run with Grit” campaign to help local dogs with medical and financial needs, after previously raising $125,000 for community causes. Calendars featuring Albuquerque-area shop dogs are free at local stores, with QR codes for donations that will support four dogs a year, including an upcoming ACL surgery for Sapphire.

• Volunteers bring holiday cheer to older adults in Rio Rancho (koat.com) — Older adults in nearby Rio Rancho are getting extra holiday attention from Santa’s Senior Helpers, a program run by Senior Helpers of Albuquerque that provides nonmedical home care and companionship. Volunteers help with baking, decorating, and check-ins that ease loneliness for seniors whose families live far away, underscoring a growing need for support as New Mexico’s older population rises.
