- The Albuquerque Police Department reports that three shootings may be connected. The department reports that the Mesa Verde Park shooting, the University of New Mexico shooting, and the shooting that occurred in Nov. 2021 near the corner of San Mateo might all share the same suspect. The department has not released why it believes the shootings are connected. All three shooting victims were members of the Albuquerque metro Muslim community. Residents are asked to report anyone exhibiting strange behavior. (KOB 4)
- The Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent greeted students on an extended calendar during their return to school yesterday. The students are returning to the classroom without a mask mandate in place. District schools not participating in an extended calendar learning schedule return on Wednesday, Aug. 10. (KRQE News 13)
- The Albuquerque Solid Waste Department reports that its crews are understaffed. The crews are reportedly having difficulty eliminating weeds in the city's medians due to the staffing shortage. Median clean-up crews only have half the usual staff. (KRQE News 13)
