- On Wednesday night, a SWAT team responded to a Barelas neighborhood. The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) released information about the event, which happened on the 700 block of Pacific near 8th Street around 7:00 p.m on Wednesday. The APD says the event involved a person with an outstanding warrant who would not leave a home. (KRQE News 13)
- One person is dead after a police-involved shooting in northeast Albuquerque. Early Thursday morning, New Mexico State Police say its officers were involved in the shooting around Louisiana Boulevard and Montgomery Boulevard. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was pulled over for a traffic stop. Police then noticed several knives and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The suspect later appeared to consume some sort of drug before attempting to flee the scene. No officers were injured in the incident. (KRQE News 13)
- University of New Mexico graduate students stopped traffic to protest for better pay and lower insurance premiums. On Tuesday, members of the United Graduate Workers of UNM took to the streets for their third protest of the year. Roughly 200 people blocked the intersection at Yale and Lomas for an hour to call attention to their ongoing issues with the administration, demanding higher wages and a stop to a proposal that would increase insurance premiums.
