WEST BABYLON, NY — Congrats are in order at West Babylon Senior High School. Students Kirra Murphy and Matthew Gennings were nominated for the annual Roger Rees Awards (RRA) for Excellence in Musical Theater for their roles in "Mamma Mia," the rom-com musical based on songs by the Swedish pop band, ABBA.

According to the RRA website, the award "recognizes distinction in student performance and outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre programs in the NYC area."

Murphy and Gennings were two of 50 students chosen from all of New York State to participate in this competition.

The competition will take place on May 19, when students from all across New York working with Broadway coaches will try to advance to the National High School Musical Theater Awards, which celebrates high school musical talent.
