Cops Identify Suspect Months After Bed-Stuy Stabbing: NYPD

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Police are asking the public's help to find a man connected to a fatal stabbing earlier this year.

The NYPD released photos on Tuesday of Daniel Velasquez, who they fatally stabbed 47-year-old Tayebe Henderson in May.

Henderson was found lying inside the Artel Hotel lobby on Malcolm X Boulevard just after 9 p.m. that night with a stab wound to his chest.

Police said Velasquez stabbed Henderson near Broadway and Dekalb Avenue before fleeing the scene. Henderson, according to reports from the time, ran inside the lobby for help after the incident. He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

Velasquez is 43 years old, stands about 5'5", weighs 130 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes, according to police. He is known to frequent the area of Broadway and Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn, police said.
