1 Dead In BK NYCHA Shooting, No Arrests Made Yet: NYPD
Authorities are looking for the gunman responsible for a daytime shooting that claimed one victim Wednesday afternoon.

BROOKLYN, NY - Authorities are looking for the gunman responsible for a shooting that killed a 37-year-old man at a Brooklyn NYCHA development Wednesday afternoon.
Police officers responded to Brownsville Houses at 284 Sutter Ave. about 11:14 a.m. for a report of a man shot, police said. Naishan Davis, 37, of the 300 block of Sutter Ave., was found “unconscious and unresponsive” at the complex with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Medics rushed Davis to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

The deadly shooting comes less than two months after another shooting in Brownsville claimed a 28-year-old man on Jan. 24. Police officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds about the body in front of 1275 Herkimer St. about 11:26 p.m. The gunman fled the area on foot, police said.
That victim, whose name was not immediately made available, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

Killings are down 24.7 percent in Brownsville compared to this time last year, according to NYPD data, with 55 incidents reported in so far in 2024. Shootings also fell 17.4 percent, down from 161 incidents reported this time last year in 2023.
