Teen Cyclist In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car In Brooklyn
A teenager was in critical condition after being hit by a car in Dyker Heights, police said.

DYKER HEIGHTS, NY — A teenage cyclist was fighting for his life after he was struck by a car in Dyker Heights, police said.
The 19-year-old was traveling southbound on 13th Avenue when he was struck by a 45-year-old woman driving eastbound on 73rd Street about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD.
The driver remained on the scene while the teenage cyclist was rushed to an area hospital — where he remained Monday in critical condition, police said.

There were no arrests Monday but police continued to investigate.
Sunday marks the second injurious crash at the intersection this year, and the eighth on just a half-mile stretch of 13th Avenue.

On Wednesday, advocates with Transportation Alternatives planned a ride and rally at Union Square to protest a deadly year for bikers.
Some 24 bikers have died this year in crashes, making 2023 the "deadliest year for biking in 30 years," according to Transportation Alternatives.
Just last week in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, a box truck fatally struck a 56-year-old cyclist.
A week before, a 66-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition after he was hit by a car at a marked crosswalk, police said.
