Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A man was stabbed on board a 2 train in Crown Heights on Sunday evening. The 25-year-old victim was riding south towards the Sterling Street station when he got into an argument with the suspect. The victim was stabbed in the head and torso and was listed in stable condition, while the suspect fled the scene. (Patch)
  2. A Brooklyn preacher was robbed during his service on Sunday at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry in Canarsie. Bishop Lamor Whitehead was attacked by three masked gunmen while live-streaming the service, and he and his wife were robbed of nearly $400,000 worth of jewelry. Some sources have valued the jewelry at closer to $1 million, while no arrests have yet been made. (Fox 5 NY)
  3. The first ever "Christmas in July" toy drive will take place on July 30, bringing toys and school supplies to underserved children in Brownsville and East New York. A joint effort between Elf of NYC and the Bonello Foundation, the event will be held at the Jerome Glenmore Corner Stone Community Garden. The summer garden party will be winter themed in keeping with the holiday spirit. (Brooklyn Paper)
  4. Rocco Pizza III in Bed-Stuy was ranked among the best slices in the city by food critic Robert Sietsema. The foodie's "18 Favorite Pizza Slices" focuses on eateries which specifically offer pizza by the slice. Rocco Pizza III joined five other Brooklyn pizzerias on the list. (Patch)
