Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. Mayor Eric Adams announced that the New York Embroidery Studio will be the newest tenant at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The expansion is expected to create more than 500 on-site jobs, an estimated $73 million in economic output for the city. The design manufacturer will take over nearly 80,000 square feet for its state-of-the-art facility. (nyc.gov)
  2. A human body was found floating in the water near Brooklyn Navy Yard on Friday morning at approximately 8 a.m. As of an hour after the discovery, police were unable to confirm whether or not the individual was dead or alive. This is the latest in a handful of people washed up near the Navy Yard since 2014. (Patch)
  3. A pair of thieves has robbed eight men of their bicycles within a half-mile stretch of Bushwick since November 2021. In most cases, the duo has approached their victim while one places them in a chokehold and drags them to the ground, and they have reportedly flashed knives. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these two suspects to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. (Yahoo News)
  4. In an attempt to evict a tenant from his Brooklyn home, an off-duty correction officer smeared feces on the tenant's bedroom door and in her bathroom. Nigel Escalona was charged with criminal mischief and illegal eviction. He was arrested after the 52-year-old woman returned to her Canarsie apartment to find that the locks had been changed.
