BROOKLYN, NY — A 70-year-old man was punched in the face during a seemingly random altercation on a Brooklyn street, police said.

The attacker remains on the loose after he ran off from the beat down on Monday afternoon in Brighton Beach that ultimately sent the elderly man to the hospital, NYPD officials said.

Police said the assault unfolded as the 70-year-old man, who was standing in front of 117 Brighton Beach Avenue, between Ocean Parkway and Brighton First Street, was approached by the as-yet-identified attacker.

The two got into a verbal argument — the cause of which police did not confirm — that ended when the attacker punched the man in the face before fleeing westbound on Brighton Beach Avenue, police said.

The attacker is described as a slim-built man with a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black sneakers.
