95-Year-Old Arrested For Murder In Fatal NYC Nursing Home Attack: Police

BROOKLYN, NY — A 95-year-old woman is facing murder charges after allegedly bludgeoning a fellow Brooklyn nursing home resident to death with a metal piece from a wheelchair.
Galina Smirnova was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly striking 89-year-old Nina Kravtsov in the head multiple times during a dispute Sunday night at the Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Coney Island, police said.
Kravtsov, a Holocaust survivor from Ukraine, according to the New York Post, was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

Smirnova, believed to be a fellow resident of the nursing home, has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.
Officials have not yet disclosed what led to the fatal altercation or the nature of the relationship between the two women.
