Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn:
- Yesterday morning, Aug. 17, a Brooklyn synagogue was vandalized with graffiti. The spray-painted word, "Hitler," was found by Rabbi Asher Altschul on the outside wall of the synagogue. The Congregation Beth Shalom of Kings Bay in Brooklyn has a significant number of Holocaust survivors who attend services. (Forward)
- Yesterday, Aug. 17, 21-year-old Brooklyn resident Brianna Rodriguez was arrested and charged with assault and assault as a hate crime. According to police, on Aug. 8, Rodriguez punched a 41-year-old woman several times in the face on a northbound Q train at the Newkirk Plaza subway station. When the victim asked why Rodriguez attacked her unprovoked, Rodriguez allegedly responded "I hate Mexicans." (AMNY)
- The 47th Annual Atlantic Antic Festival, a mile-long street fair, will be in Brooklyn on Sunday, Oct. 2. The fair will be 10-blocks long, with merchants from neighborhoods including Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Downtown Brooklyn. (Brooklyn Paper)

- New York's Brooklyn Public Library now has a vinyl collection! Library cardholders can now borrow up to three records at a time at the main branch at Grand Army Plaza. There are now 400 records at the library including house music, disco, hip-hop, and pop — plus new listening stations with turntables. (Resident Advisor)
