Human Remains Found Along NYC Parkway ID'd As Missing Brooklyn Woman, Police Say (patch.com) — Brooklyn residents are learning more about the tragic death of 27-year-old South Midwood resident Christina Purdie, whose remains were found in a bag near the Queens-Brooklyn border in August. The medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide, and NYPD detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers as they continue the investigation.

2. 5 Injured As 4-Alarm Fire Rips Through Brooklyn Apartment: FDNY (patch.com) — An early-morning four-alarm fire tore through a Williamsburg apartment building on Humboldt Street, injuring two residents and three firefighters and displacing at least two people, according to FDNY and the Red Cross. Nearly 200 firefighters and EMS personnel battled the blaze, which spread quickly through older wood-frame structures and caused heavy damage now under review by city building officials.

Man arrested in antisemitic attack on Orthodox Jewish man in Brooklyn (nydailynews.com) — An Orthodox Jewish man was stabbed near a Crown Heights synagogue in what police are investigating as an antisemitic hate crime, and a 23-year-old suspect has now been arrested and charged. The attack happened Dec. 16 near Kingston Ave. and Lincoln Place, and surveillance footage helped investigators identify and locate the alleged assailant.

Gang prevention activist's sudden death giving momentum to his movement (abc7ny.com) — A Brownsville, Brooklyn anti-gang leader who once founded a local gang died suddenly on stage during a peace summit, and his allies are now working to grow his “Save the Next Generation” movement. Former rival gang members recently united under one roof in Brooklyn, and supporters say his very public final plea for peace is inspiring more young people to leave street life behind.

5. Judge declares mistrial in corruption case against Linda Sun, former aide to Gov.
