Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. A man climbing the cables on the Brooklyn Bridge was rescued by NYPD officers. The incident, which closed two lanes of traffic on the bridge, took place at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Officers were able to establish dialogue with the individual and convince him to come down to safety. (NBC New York)
  2. Police are looking for three individuals who have slashed Apple advertising billboards on the same Brooklyn street at least three times since November, 2021. The most recent incident occurred on March 27, when two men walked by the Knickerbocker Avenue billboard, and one took out a cutting implement. No injuries have been reported in connection to this vandalism, but the investigation remains ongoing. (NBC New York)
  3. Following a major removal of homeless encampments in the area of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) in Brooklyn on March 28, many homeless people are still living in the area. The area which was once filled with a long stretch of tents now includes homeless people in sleeping bags and carrying blankets to weather the cold. Mayor Eric Adams has defended this initiative, and the actions that his "task force" has taken across New York City. (Brooklyn Paper)
  4. A Brooklyn company has been ordered by the Attorney General's office to pay $900,000 to underpaid workers. The East Flatbush company, Lintech Electric, reportedly paid 200 workers hired for NYCHA projects as much as three times less the lawfully required wages. The workers, hired between 2015 and 2018, were paid between $20 and $60 an hour when New York state labor laws required between $74 and $110 per hour. (Patch)
