Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:
- NYC Parks announced plans to expand upon and add new greenways in Brooklyn and Queens. In Brooklyn, the proposed plan would improve access to the waterfront by connecting Shore Parkway from Leif Erikson Park to Coney Island. The goal is to make is easier to get around the borough by walking and biking by connecting these existing greenways. (Time Out New York)
- The NYPD are searching for a suspect in connection to a Crown Heights shooting on Jan. 27. At approximately 9 a.m., the suspect fired repeatedly at the 22-year-old man, striking him multiple times. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, while the suspect remains at large. (Audacy)
- Ackeem Chambers, 18, was charged with vehicular manslaughter for the crash that killed a passenger in his car. Chambers struck another car while fleeing a traffic stop, killing 18-year-old Jada Rollins who was sitting in the backseat. (Paywall: New York Daily News)
