Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn:
- The seventh annual Brooklyn Horror Film Festival announced its first wave of titles for 2022. The screenings run from Oct. 13 to Oct. 20 at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg and Williamsburg Cinemas. View the link to see the list of films. (Slash Film)
- The NYPD is searching for a man who allegedly groped a 5-year-old girl inside a Brooklyn laundromat by Ralph Avenue and Farragut Road on Tuesday, Aug. 30. The suspect also allegedly exposed himself to the young girl before warning her not to tell her mother, who was standing nearby. Police released photos of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. (NBC New York)
- Eliseo DeLeon, a 45-year-old Brooklyn man, was convicted of murder at a retrial yesterday, Aug. 31. His first conviction in the 27-year-old murder was overturned three years ago due to police misconduct by ex-NYPD Detective Louis Scarcella. (New York Daily News)
