Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- Brooklyn residents continue to protest against the construction of the north Brooklyn pipeline, accusing the project of being discriminatory against Black neighborhoods and neighborhoods of color. Brooklyn residents and environmentalists argue that the pipeline passing through their neighborhoods is in direct violation of their civil rights. The 7-mile pipeline, known as the Metropolitan Reliability Project, is reported to pass through these neighborhoods while avoiding predominantly white, wealthy neighborhoods in Brooklyn. (Yahoo News)
- A Brooklyn lawmaker renewed an argument that the MTA should introduce larger train cars to the G subway line between Brooklyn and Queens. The line runs from central Brooklyn through Williamsburg and into Long Island City, but only has four train cars as opposed to the standard eight. The short trains often force subway riders to run down the platform in order to catch their ride while waiting on the wrong end of the platform. (AMNY)
- Leasing has launched for the new Magnolia DUMBO development at 85 Jay St. in Brooklyn. The two 21-story towers will yield over 700 residential units in total. Notable amenities include and outdoor, rooftop swimming pool and a 77,000-square-foot Lifetime Fitness flagship space. (New York YIMBY)
