Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- A fender bender at the corner of Tapscott Street and Blake Avenue led to an apparent road rage incident that left 30-year-old Jose Flores dead with a gunshot wound. The investigator revealed that Flores had been in a collision with a light gray Infiniti before dawn on Sunday, March 13. The suspect remains at large, and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. (NBC New York)
- A developer is looking to build an affordable housing unit and commercial hub at Broadway Junction. Some long-time East New York residents have voiced concerns, seeing the plan as a ploy to turn the Junction into another Downtown Brooklyn. The plan is in its infancy, but the firm, Totem Group, envision four towers. (Brooklyn Paper)
- Detectives are investigating a double shooting at the Marlboro Houses in Gravesend. At about 11:48 p.m. on March 23, two men were shot in their right thigh and left hand, respectively. A preliminary investigation determined that the two men had been involved in a dispute moments before the bullets flew. (AMNY)
- Firefighters responded to a fire in a Red Hook warehouse early on Thursday morning at 98 Van Dyke St. The building had stored masonry and construction equipment on site sight since the 1980s, and a few potbelly pigs were rescued from the building. The fire was brought under control by 2:59 a.m., and first responders were seen trying to corral the animals. (AMNY)
