Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- Farewell Brooklyn, a bar in Bushwick, was robbed in broad daylight early on Monday morning. The masked burglar was caught on surveillance breaking in through the front window at 6:45 a.m. Property including cash, liquor bottles, speaker and an iPad were stolen from the bar, as well as from Gunther's Café, which is sub-leasing a fraction of the space. (Brooklyn Paper)
- Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the completion of a $133 million affordable and supportive housing development in Coney Island. Known as Raven Hall, the new development features 216 affordable apartments and ground floor retail space. Raven Hall is part of Hochul's plans to make housing more affordable, equitable, and stable. (ny.gov)
- The Brooklyn Diocese launched a fundraiser for Ukrainian refugees in partnership with the Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens. New York City is home to the largest Ukrainian population in the U.S. and has become a major hub of support since the beginning of the Russian invasion. The money raised by the church will be sent directly to Ukraine and distributed on arrival. (Brooklyn Paper)
