Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Brooklyn is back on "high alert" for the spread of COVID-19 as cases continue to rise. City officials are strongly urging residents across New York City to wear masks, but have not indicated them to be a requirement again. When asked, Mayor Eric Adams related that he had no intentions of reinstating a mask mandate. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Casual Lebanese eatery Nabila's is set to make its debut later this month. The Court Street restaurant is led by Mike Farah, and his mother Nabila, in order to showcase his mother's fabulous cooking. The Cobble Hill restaurant seeks to recreate the feeling of one of Ms. Farah's infamous dinner parties. (Grub Street)
  3. Fort Hamilton High School has received three similar phony bomb threats in as many days. For the third day in a row, the school was put on high alert on Wednesday morning when an unknown person called the school's secretary, said "dropping a bomb," and then hung up. While law enforcement continues to try to trace the calls, they have been unable to identify a suspect yet. (MSN)
  4. The NYPD is searching for a pair of suspects wanted for stealing a teenager's phone at a Brooklyn subway station. At approximately 9 p.m. on April 26, the 15-year-old boy jumped the turnstile at the 53rd Street subway station, and was then approached and questioned by the suspect, whom the victim was made to believe to be law enforcement. The suspects searched the teen and fled the station with his cellphone, valued at $1,300. (AMNY)
  5. A new Brooklyn restaurant is serving up only one, sometimes two, shapes of pasta each day. The chef at Pasta Louise in Park Slope will choose one unique shape of pasta each day, and customers will be able to choose which kind of sauce they want their meal to be served with. The new eatery at 1114 Eighth Ave. is an upgrade from the original storefront only blocks away. (Time Out)
