Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A man who was on parole was arrested on Monday for allegedly beating, and nearly blinding his girlfriend. Steven Chirse, 64, had served 36 years for murdering Angelo Brown, a police officer, in 1984. Chirse is believed to have beaten his 24-year-old girlfriend in their East New York apartment. (Yahoo News)
  2. A Brooklyn man was fatally shot in his own home on Wednesday night. Tristan Templeman, 22, was discovered by his mother as she returned from work to their East New York apartment. No arrests have yet been made as the police continue to investigate the crime. (News Everything)
  3. Crown Finish Caves, a cheesemaker in Crown Heights, is preparing to shut its doors after eight years. The business announced they plan to close in a Thursday newsletter. The business held a final cheese sale on Friday afternoon. (Eater NY)
  4. Harry Styles and James Corden chose a random Brooklyn apartment where they recorded a music video for Styles' new song, "Daylight." The two entertainers went door to door in a segment of Corden's late night talk show, until they finally found a willing tenant. The video was filmed over the course of three hours while the unsuspecting hosts participated. (TODAY)
  5. Looking Glass Factory, a company based out of Greenpoint, have received significant funding from the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense. Following the launch of a new product, the Looking Glass Portrait, the company received $2.54 million from In-Q-Tel, which is the venture capital wing of the CIA. (The Intercept)
