  1. A Brooklyn police officer was assaulted on the first day of a new policy that will see NYPD officers patrolling the subways alone. The "single patrol" policy was announced by Mayor Eric Adams just hours before the assault occurred. The incident in East New York prompted the mayor's office to announce that changes will be made to the policy. (Patch)
  2. A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday night after "allegedly stabbing both of his parents." The suspect's 52-year-old mother awoke to something hitting her head and said that she turned around to see her son holding a knife. The 64-year-old husband entered the room to try to intervene before he was stabbed in the head. Both victims survived and were transported to nearby Brookdale Hospital. (Brooklyn Paper)
  3. Excavation has begun at what will be The Brook, a residential development in Downtown Brooklyn. The 51-story tower on Fulton Street will yield 591 units across 597,824 square feet. The building will also include 30,000 square feet dedicated to retail space. (New York YIMBY)
  4. A young woman was fatally struck by a car as she was crossing Flatlands Avenue in Flatlands. Vorda Bergum, 25, was hit by the driver of a 2014 Ford Focus on Monday night. The 25-year-old driver remained at the scene and was not charged. (Yahoo News)
  5. Vaccinations for children under the age of 5 have begun across New York City. The mayor's office announced that appointments would be available for the city's vaccine hubs beginning on Tuesday night at 9 p.m., however the website was not functioning properly until approximately 9:45 p.m. (Paywall: The New York Times)
