- A woman has been missing from her East New York, Brooklyn home since June 6. Glennis Andrew, 68, was last seen leaving her home on East New York Avenue early that morning. Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD's crime hotline at call the NYPD at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). (Patch)
- Construction has begun at 100 Flatbush Ave. in Downtown Brooklyn in the Alloy Block multi-tower development. The 44-story building will feature 441 residential units. The initial plans included 100,000 square feet dedicated to office space, but this plan was changed to make space for more apartments. (New York YIMBY)
- The NYPD is searching for a serial groping suspect who has been involved in two separate incidents in Brownsville. The suspect was caught on surveillance groping a 12-year-old girl from behind while her mother was beside her, and two days later was seen grabbing a woman in her 30s. The suspect is believed to be in his 20s and has a face tattoo on his right temple. (WABC-TV)
- A rare whale was seen washed up on Plumb Beach earlier this week. Despite multiple efforts to return the beached Pygmy Sperm Whale to the water, it was eventually determined that euthanasia was the most humane route of action. The animal was monitored overnight in order to reassess the situation, but it eventually passed away after its condition deteriorated. (NBC New York)
- The Vietnamese bakery Bạn Bè will be opening for takeout on July 12. Owner Doris Ho-Kan announced that she plans to serve three meals every day from a window at 187 Sackett St. in Cobble Hill. (Eater NY)
