BROOKLYN, NY — A deadly altercation inside a Brooklyn IHOP restroom led to the arrest of a former employee accused of murdering a coworker, police said.

Wilber Salazar Rios, 44, of Hempstead, Long Island, was arrested Sunday and charged in the fatal stabbing of Hector Reinoso-Perez at the IHOP on Flatlands Avenue near Louisiana Avenue in East New York.

Police reported that Salazar Rios followed Reinoso-Perez, a cleaner at the restaurant, into the bathroom and stabbed him in the torso. Another employee, 41, was injured during a struggle with Salazar Rios after hearing the commotion and intervening, suffering a slashed hand, according to ABC7 reports.

Reinoso-Perez, who lived less than a mile from the East New York IHOP, was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Salazar Rios was taken into custody at the scene when police arrived, officials said.
