Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:
- An FDNY firefighter died after a ceiling collapsed during a house fire in Canarsie. Timothy Klein, 31, was a 6-year veteran, and was killed in the fire that left 9 other firefighters injured. The fire broke out at 108-26 Avenue N on Sunday afternoon. (Patch)
- An MTA worker was injured after he was struck by a Manhattan-bound F train on Monday morning. The signal helper was hit at the Jay Street-MetroTech station at 1:40 a.m., and sustained wounds to his ribs and arms. The 64-year-old worker was reportedly in good spirits despite his injuries. (AMNY)
- A busy block in South Slope will be getting a new protected bike lane. A stretch of 20th Street between 7th and 10th avenues will be outfitted later this year, along with four other locations throughout the city. These upgrades comprise part of a $904 million pledge that Mayor Eric Adams made on Earth Day, promising new bike lanes, busways, and pedestrian plazas. (Patch)
