Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- The NYPD is searching for a suspect wanted for stabbing a fruit stand worker with a screwdriver in Fort Greene. The unprovoked attack occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Lafayette Avenue when the assailant drove the weapon into the victim's right shoulder. The victim suffered a minor puncture wound in the attack, while the suspect remains at large. (Pix 11 NY)
- A suspect has been arrested in connection to two sexual assaults in Brooklyn and Manhattan last week. Estarling Martinez Cabral, 20, turned himself into authorities on Friday morning after the attacks on the Upper West Side and Carroll Gardens. Cabral has been charged with attempted rape and sexual abuse in the first assault while charges are still pending for the second. (ABC 7 NY)
- The headquarters for the Brooklyn chapter of The United Order of Tents has fallen into disrepair. The United Order of Tents is one of the country's oldest Black-led societies and was found in the 1800s to help slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad. The 87 MacDonough St. mansion has housed the group since 1945. (Patch)
- Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 423 Tompkins Ave. in Bed-Stuy. The proposed development will yield 5,802 square feet of residential space. An estimate date of completion has not yet been announced. (New York YIMBY)
