Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. The Kings County Supreme Court recently dismissed a lawsuit intended to overturn the Gowanus Rezoning. The Court cited a technical error, along with holes in the argument set forth by the petitioners as reasoning for dismissing the case. Local community groups Voice of Gowanus, and Friends and Residents of Greater Gowanus, filed the petition alleging that the city did not conduct a proper environmental review of the rezoning. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. The NYPD is searching for a man who opened fire on a Brooklyn street on Sunday, hitting four people near Livonia and Rockaway avenues. The suspect began firing at 8:11 p.m. and struck four people; fortunately, none of the gunshot wounds were fatal. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, and the investigation remains ongoing. (CBS New York)
  3. A local business owner and Brooklyn native has built a successful oyster business, due in part to support he received from the Together We Thrive program. Moody Harney, 37, was born and raised in Crown Heights, and is the owner and mind behind the Real Mother Shuckers franchise. The small business program was launched by the United Way of NYC in 2021. (PIX11 New York News)
  4. Fausto, located on Flatbush Avenue in Park Slope, has been named one of the city's 20 best Italian restaurants, according to Eater. Fausto joined a handful of other Brooklyn restaurants that comprised over half the list. Other notable entries include Bamonte's, Al Di La Trattoria, and Fernando's Focacceria. (Patch)
  5. A new pizzeria is coming to Williamsburg at 305 Bedford Ave. Sean Feeney is the co-owner of the popular pasta restaurant Lilia and will debut Fini Pizza. Feeney has not specified when the new eatery will officially open. (Eater NY)
