Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. A Long Island man was arrested in connection with an assault case in Grand Army Plaza. Louis Colbert, 25, followed a 29-year-old woman out of the subway station on Sunday and tried to sexually assault her in broad daylight. The suspect fled to Prospect Park before he was arrested later in the week. (Patch)
  2. A new program at the Brooklyn Navy Yard will provide training for Brooklyn residents to become bike mechanics, in an effort to create more employment opportunities. Ken Podzibah, president and CEO of Bike New York, spoke about the Second Chance Through Cycling initiative on Thursday. (News 12 Bronx)
  3. Local nonprofit organization Globetops is hosting a laptop recycling program at its Sunset Park Headquarters. All donors will be given a raffle ticket for every device that they recycle with the chance to win prizes. The program ends tonight so don't miss this opportunity. (AMNY)
