Just One Brooklyn Hospital Grabs 'A' Safety Grade, New Ranking Finds

BROOKLYN, NY — A single hospital in Brooklyn got a coveted "A" grade for patient safety in a prestigious new ranking.
NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn was one of three hospitals citywide to grab the top rating from Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit that this week released its fall rankings for patient safety.
NYU Langone Hospital on First Avenue in Manhattan also earned the "A" mark.

The grading system includes a number of performance measures like error rates, accidents, injuries and infections and preventative procedures, according to Leapfrog.
It's the seventh consecutive year NYU Langone has garnered the top-tier review for its inpatient locations — putting it among the top 30 percent of hospitals nationwide, a representative of the hospital said.

“Exceptional safety outcomes are the baseline at NYU Langone," said CEO Robert Grossman.
Another ranking by Vizient put NYU Langone in the top national spot for patient safety using a grading system that included mortality and infection rates, patient experience scoring and more.
