Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn:
- Police arrested 56-year-old Israel Elves on Aug. 23 in connection to the Aug. 22 fatal shooting in a Brooklyn apartment building lobby. According to police, 42-year-old Hope Pearson was found in the lobby of 165 Rockaway Parkway with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. Investigators believe it may have been a domestic incident and Elves was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. (AMNY)
- State Senator Kevin Parker won the Democratic Primary for the 21st Senate District, located in Central Brooklyn. Parker received 46 percent of the vote and his opponent, David Alexis, received 38 percent. (NYCaribNews)
- The 20th Annual New York Burlesque Festival is back featuring over 100 performances! The four-night festivities start on Thursday, Sep. 29, at The Bell House in Brooklyn. The party continues on Friday, Sep. 30, at the iconic Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg. The festival ends with shows on Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2, in Manhattan. (Broadway World)
