Here are the top four stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. Police say the man who was hit on the head by a falling tree limb in a Brooklyn playground has a "severe" head injury. According to police, on Saturday (Aug. 13), the man was sitting on a bench at the Reinaldo Salgado Playground, located at 742 Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and a branch fell on him. As of yesterday evening, he is still in serious condition at Kings County Hospital. (New York Post)
  2. On Friday night (Aug. 12), 28-year-old Ricardo Gustave, a Brooklyn father of two who worked in the kitchen at Popeyes on Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, was killed in a drive-by shooting in East Flatbush, according to police. While walking on the sidewalk, Gustave was shot four times in the neck. The gunman shot from the passenger seat of a black Jeep at Newark Avenue and East 34th Street. The following day, Gustave's friends and family gathered outside the apartment building where the shooting took place. (New York Daily News)
  3. Yesterday (Aug. 14), eight people were wounded, including a New York family of four, after a suspected Palestinian gunman opened fire at a bus near Jerusalem's Old City. The family is from Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The father is on life support and in critical condition, but as of Aug. 14, no information was released on the other three members of the family. (Fox News)
  4. On Aug. 20, entertainment brand "No Days Off Entertainment LLC" will present "Whose Mic Is It?" at 290 Meserole Street in Brooklyn. The event will feature the "best [artists] from in and out of Brooklyn." (The Hype Magazine)
