Man Fatally Shot At Brooklyn Apartment, Cops Say

EAST FLATBUSH, NY — A man known as "Mr. Common Sense" was fatally shot Wednesday, according to police and a report.

Tikya Francis, 45, was shot in the chest at his apartment building on E 94th Street between Clarkson Avenue and Winthrop Street about 12:05 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Francis was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, where he was later declared dead.

Three men were seen running from the apartment after the killing, police told the Daily News. His shooter got away and no arrests had been made Thursday. Police continued to investigate.

Witnesses told the Daily News the killing was a complete surprise — Francis talked to everyone on the block and was helpful to his neighbors.
