Suspect In Custody After Early-Morning Shooting In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — A man in custody is being questioned by police in connection with a Monday early-morning shooting that seriously injured another man.

According to police, they were notified of a shooting around 5 a.m. at 182 Wilson Ave., near the corner of DeKalb Ave. Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old man inside the building with gunshot wounds to the stomach.

EMS rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition, an NYPD spokesperson said.

During the preliminary investigation, police took a person of interest into custody for further questioning. Sources could not confirm whether the individual has any relationship with the shooting victim.

Police said the motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unknown at this time.

According to reports, the suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Angel Lozada. Court documents show that Lozada has been charged with three counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, menacing and harassment.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
