BROOKLYN, NY — A man was shot in the neck right outside Prospect Park in a random attack late Tuesday night, authorities said.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was walking at about 10:58 p.m. Tuesday at 154 Parkside Ave., between St. Paul's Place and Ocean Avenue, when the shooting occurred, law enforcement officials told Patch.

Officers responding to a 911 call about the incident found the victim with a gunshot wound to the neck. However, the shooter had fled the scene by the time they had arrived. It remains unclear whether the victim knew the assailant.

The wounded man was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition, police said Wednesday morning.

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, and police have not released a description of the shooter.
