Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:
- Mayor Eric Adams announced yesterday that the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal will be retrofitted to handle large offshore wind turbine construction parts. The Empire 1 Wind Project and Beacon Wind will source materials from the upgraded Brooklyn terminal. The development of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal is part of the city's 15-year-plan to become a major hub for the offshore wind industry. (CNBC)
- An unidentified woman's torso was found in a garbage bag in a shopping cart at a Brooklyn intersection early Thursday morning. A pedestrian walking by the intersection of Pennsylvania and Atlantic avenues at about 1:45 a.m. yesterday made the discovery and called 911. Officials are trying to use DNA to identify the victim and are doing an extensive search for surveillance footage in the area. (NBC New York)
- A Williamsburg apartment fire left 11 people with injuries, including 6 people and an infant who were taken to the hospital. At least one young child was seen being pulled from window of the burning building on Moore Street. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. (NBC New York)
- The Brooklyn Museum's iconic OY/YO sculpture was wrapped in blue fabric in a show of solidarity with Ukraine.
