Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- Three mass vaccination sites have opened in New York City in an effort contain the spread of monkeypox throughout the state. Throughout the five boroughs, 461 cases have been reported, which accounts for roughly 30 percent of cases across the country. One of the three sites is located in Bushwick. (CBS New York)
- A young man was left in critical condition, while three others were injured in a high speed crash on the Ocean Parkway on Friday night. The 22-year-old man was a passenger in a speeding BMW who struck an oncoming driver while turning onto Avenue X. The passenger was severely injured when the car slammed sideways into a traffic light pole. (AMNY)
- An elderly woman was critically injured in yet another dangerous crash in Brooklyn over the weekend. The 67-year-old was struck by a 60-year-old motorist while she was crossing 7th Avenue. The victim was rushed to a local hospital while the driver remained on the scene. (AMNY)
- Formula E racing returned to Brooklyn this weekend, on a track running through Red Hook. The electric car racing event featured 22 drivers, and represented the fifth Formula E event held in Brooklyn. (PIX11 New York News)
