🌱 Mother Killed In Dean Street Crash + East 85th Street House Fire

Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- A woman was killed after riding her gas-powered scooter into an SUV that was backing out of a Brooklyn driveway. Winter King, 32, was riding down Dean Street with her 6-year-old son on the rear when they were both thrown from the scooter. The victim's son is expected to make a full recovery after suffering cuts to his face. (NBC New York)
- The FDNY battled a Wednesday evening fire at 1234 East 85th St. The blaze broke out at around 5:11 p.m., and firefighters had to rescue an individual who was trapped on the first floor surrounded by toxic fumes. The fire was under control by 6:18 p.m., while the victim was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. (AMNY)
- A Brooklyn woman was injured in her own home when a stray bullet flew through her apartment window. The 37 year old was asleep at her Crown Heights residence when the bullet grazed her left hand. There was one shell casing discovered in the area, and the victim was treated at a local hospital. (NBC New York)
- A father and son were both shot after an argument over a parking spot. At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday in East Flatbush, the pair were engaged in a dispute with another man, who then pulled out a gun and fired. Both men were taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, while the police apprehended a person of interest. (NBC New York)
- Inflation and theft throughout the city have hit small business owners hard, as evidenced by the struggles felt by local grocery store owners. Ivan Arguello owns the Key Food store on Montague Street and has lost thousands of dollars' worth of product a month due to shoplifting. Prices for groceries in Arguello's store and stores across the city are rising steadily. (PIX11 New York News)
