MTA Worker Collapses, Dies While On the Job In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — An MTA worker died after collapsing on the job in Brooklyn on Wednesday, officials said.
Ricardo Louis, 44, died from an apparent heart attack, TWU Local 100 disclosed in a statement.
The 44-year-old, a track cleaner, was aboard a work train in the Morgan Ave. station in East Williamsburg around 3:10 a.m. when he collapsed. Co-workers attempted to revive him as they called 911.

Louis was transported by EMS to Woodhull Hospital, where he was later pronounced, the FDNY said.
“On behalf of our membership of 44,000 transit workers, I convey deep condolences to the family of Brother Louis and offer them all the resources of the Union as they go forward at this difficult time,” TWU Local 100 President Richard Davis said in a statement.

Louis had worked for the MTA since 2018.
